Assistant Catering & Events Specialist 

 

Full Time Position - ability to work nights as needed and Saturdays are a must.

 

Responsibilities

  • Answer phone in a polite and professional manner 

  • Assist with initial event inquiries and initial information from clients 

  • Manage event rental orders 

  • Maintain menu supplies and answer questions or walk-in-clients 

  • Update social media and website for retail operation 

  • Oversee all emails being handled

  • Manage menu and event changes in catering software 

  • Preparing production schedules and notes for all staff and vendors prior to events 

  • Client and Employee File organization 

  • Post event follow up - thank you notes, emails, detailed post event notes 

  • Signage for events 

  • Assist with menu updates and changes 

  • Assist clients with Parties To Go orders 

  • Set up and breakdown of event tastings conducted in the office 

  • Support event planners in the office with scheduling, ordering and other projects 

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Social Media Experience

  • Ability to work under pressure deadlines and prioritize multiple projects

Compensation

This is an hourly position.  Benefits including medical and simple ira available after 90 days of full time employment. 

Part-Time Event Bartender

Event Bartenders are required to set-up and breakdown bars at each event. Bartenders will travel to many locations throughout New England and must follow both The Chef’s Tables and Serve Safe Alcohol procedures. Schedules are somewhat flexible, you are required to work two shifts per month. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Most events require availability on nights and weekends. All scheduling is done online and will require the use of email. Must have a Tips or similar certification. 

Part-Time Event Server

Event Servers will work and travel to many event locations throughout New England. All events range in size and scope, event servers are required to help with set-up and breakdown at events. Schedules are somewhat flexible, you are required to work two shifts per month. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Most events require availability on nights and weekends. All scheduling is done online and will require the use of email. 

Part-Time Event Chef

 General knowledge of catering and kitchen operations is preferred. Must have at least 2 years of cooking or prep kitchen experience. Event chefs must have the ability to meet at the event sites and can be located anywhere from Boston to Cape Cod. Event chefs are responsible for executing catering events in a professional and timely manner, must be able to function under limited supervision and in a fast paced environment. Event chefs should possess a friendly personality and clean appearance. 

Part-Time Event Manager

The Chef’s Table Catering and Events is seeking Day Of Event Coordinators for our upcoming busy season.   This position will act as Event Manager for weddings, rehearsal dinners, galas and other social events.  This job will require advance meetings with Director of Events prior to scheduled event.   The position will require oversight and execution of the event from initial load-in to the last staff and truck leaving property.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Set up tables, buffets, serving stations according to specifications.

  • Greet client and staff in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Be able to follow timelines, layouts and event notes to execute to client specifications.

  • Manage staff and coordinate with other onsite vendors.

  • Ensure proper storage of all items including equipment and perishable foods.

  • Follow health and safety practices at all times.

  • Ensure that client’s expectations are exceeded.

 

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and work ethic.

  • Background in hospitality and prior catering or event experience.

  • Basic knowledge of weddings and other events and terminology.

  • Ability to manage and give direction to staff without hesitation.

  • Ability to take initiative, be proactive and resourceful.

  • TIPS or other similar alcohol awareness certificate preferred.

  • Must be able to stand and walk for 8 or more consecutive hours and lift items up to 45 pounds.

  • No experience required.

  • Outgoing with excellent communication skills.   Team player and ability to work in a fast paced environment.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is an on-call hourly position, with hours in accordance with business levels.   Mostly weekend shifts.   Approximately 2-3 required dates per year announced with several months notice.   Flexible schedule using online scheduling platform.  Most events are in the Boston area and South Shore.

 

Compensation

This is an hourly position starting at $20 -25 per hour.  Gratuities may also be paid but are not guaranteed.

Operations - Dishwasher/Steward

 

The Chef’s Table Catering and Events Stewards oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, equipment and vehicles and assist with set up and breakdown of events.

 

Responsibilities

  • Empty all company vehicles after events, wash and put all equipment back in orderly fashion.

  • Ensure that all vehicles are clean both inside and out and are ready for events (gas tank filled, etc)

  • Assist with the packing of events as requested by kitchen staff.

  • Ensure that interior and exterior areas of the building are maintained according to maintenance schedules.

  • Assist with kitchen projects as requested

  • Assist with the equipment set up or breakdown of events.

  • Maintain list of all broken equipment to be repaired or replaced and ensure that it is brought to the attention of the Equipment Manager on a weekly basis.

  • Employee is required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, climb, push and pull items up to 45 pounds or less on a regular basis.

  • Professional appearance, behavior, posture and hygiene.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Self starter that is able to work independently when required.

  • Team player and ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Full or Part-Time Kitchen Prep

 

The Chef’s Table Prep Cooks prepare all catering menus to prescribed specifications

 

Responsiblities

 - Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties

 -    Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they are organized and easily accessible

 -    Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking

 -    Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.

 -    Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.

 -    Maintain a clean/orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.

 -     Ensure all food and other items are stored properly

 -    Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines

 -    Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
